Chvrches – ICA, February 27th 2013
Finally, finally, finally… Yesterday I finally saw Chvrches perform, at the ICA in London.
After making Chvrches FSM Favorite back in September, yours truly bought a copy of their debut 10″ The Mother We Share, and ordered tickets for their gig at Elektrowerkz (which I didn’t attend, but Abi did!).
So it was no surprise that Chvrches gig at ICA sold-out in just 10 minutes. Their latest single Recover has been added to lots of A-playlists on various national radio channels as well. Oh, and apparently, there are some crazy people trying to get their hands on the debut 10″, paying up to £90 for a copy of The Mother We Share!
Chvrches logically played their well-known tracks Lies and Recover. It’s no rocket science that these tracks got the biggest response from the enthusiastic crowd.
Some of the new material sounded great. I really liked the tracks Lung and Gun, and think that Night Sky, with Martin taking over the vocal part, is an awesome track!
Martin mentioned in his introduction to the track Night Sky, that we should expect Chvrches debut album in September. How’s that for good news?
One little complaint: The low tones were too loud; it ruins Lauren’s vocals and covers the melodies…
Setlist:
Lies
We Sink
Lung
Now Is Not The Time
Gun
Science And Vision
Night Sky
Recover
Tide
The Mother We Share
Chvrches recently announced new UK dates. Head over to their Facebook page for more information!
Also, have a listen to their latest single Recover, in case you haven’t heard it yet!
