Iron and Wine – Kiss Each Other Clean

Iron and Wine – Kiss Each Other Clean

>Samuel Beam, better known as Iron and Wine, one of America’s finest folk-pop-rock artists, just released his 4th album called Kiss Each Other Clean.
We already notified the free track ‘Tree By The River’ almost a month ago and are now happy to be able to listen to the new album.

Kiss Each Other Clean starts with ‘Walking Far From Home’, a bit noisy, almost unpleasantly, but quickly shifts into a very sweet and soft song with a brilliant little gospel-like backing vocals.
The gorgeous sax in ‘Me and Lazarus’ lifts the song up to a higher level and is followed by ‘Tree By The River’, which is still a brilliant song.
The intro of ‘Monkeys Uptown’ just makes me smile, close my eyes and dream away.
Old school ‘Half Moon’ with a lovely female doo-wop back, ‘Rabbit Will Run’ ‘s crazy tones in the chorus and organ sound, ‘Godless Brother In Love’ piano play, there is really no average track to be found on this album.
The sax returns in ‘Big Burned Hand’, where the vocals are altered and my feet start tapping along to the rhythm of the song, damn, I enjoy that song.

Second to last song ‘Glad Man Singing’ slows down a bit, with floating vocals in the chorus that takes you away from the grey and cold days of January.
Last track ‘Your Fake Name Is Good Enough For Me’ starts with an 80’s jazzy sax and is, for me, next to ‘Big Burned Hand’ one of the best tracks of the album.

Verdict: 9/10.

Definitely, definitely one of the best albums of the year. Yes, we are only 25-26 days into the new year, but this one will stay in the top for sure!
Iron and Wine is an easy listening album, with a lot of little surprises and a lot to love. And not to forget the album art, that is… well… just…WOW!
